What you will do

Under general direction, you will profitably grow the Building Solutions North America business for Canada. You will define, develop and implement business support strategies required to assure and increase the effectiveness of the area geographies. You will work in coordination with the Vice President of Field Operations and VP/GMs of HVAC, Fire, and Security to enhance the field’s ability to meet the needs of each local market served. You will provide strategic direction to functions supervised that is consistent with BSNA short and long range growth, profit, and customer satisfaction and asset management objectives. Emphasis is placed on coaching Area General Managers to plan / forecast achievement (i.e. executed GM, cash flow, EBIT) on a monthly/quarterly basis. You will leverage Continuous Improvement processes as a primary vehicle to enable cost leadership strategies to drive business results to plan level. You will work and coordinate with all Johnson Controls business units to maximize shareholder return and long-term profitability of the overall business.   

 
How you will do it

  • You will lead and foster a safe working environment with expectations of zero lost time and zero recordable incidents.
  • You will drive the planning and forecasting process for the assigned areas in conjunction with finance team. You will work with Area General Managers to develop and execute a business plans focused on increasing shareholder value as measured by achieving profitability (EBIT), and TWC objectives. You will ensure that security profit plans contribute to overall Systems North America performance.
  • You will work with Area General Managers to ensure that all Areas communicate and implement an OHI Action Plan to improve organizational health and that all employees have annual performance reviews and development plans complete on-time.
  • You will ensure that all assigned areas meet employee and supplier diversity plan commitments.
  • You will be accountable for accurate security, billings and collections. You will lead the West areas portion of the monthly mid-month reviews with the rest of the Leadership Team. You will coach Area General Managers on developing and delivering accurate quarterly forecasts (December, March, June).
  • You will participate in monthly North America Operational Reviews and report out on the operational performance of the Western areas performance verse plan /forecast. You will determine any gaps to performance and utilizes “action tracker” tools to bridge those gaps.
  • You will work in collaboration with the Director of North America Continuous Improvement to help lead the Continuous Improvement efforts across assigned local markets. You will ensure progress to key metrics as measured on Metric scorecard monthly.
  • You will work with the North America Financial Team Members to oversee assigned Area business financial management following the policies and standards of Johnson Controls and with a stewardship that creates long-term viability for the business.
  • You will monitor customer satisfaction hot list reports and takes action in conjunction with Area General Managers to address satisfaction issues in a prompt and non-defensive manner.
  • You will work with Field Operations support to analyze and represent the Country business needs with the other North America Operations Support Team so that processes and tools can be developed to properly address field needs.
  • You will work in collaboration with the VP Central Operations to deploy and implement automated information tools to increase responsiveness and satisfy the service output demands of the direct Security field needs and to ensure usage.
  • You will review current information delivery systems for the Country to assure their effectiveness in terms of quality, timeliness, and conciseness to maximize their utility to operational needs. You will review reporting requirements from field locations and reports generated for field to eliminate duplication of effort.
  • You will maintain constant contact with Area Teams to enable ongoing evaluation of services provided by Operations functions. This includes branch visits, customer visits, evaluative surveys and the development of specific measurements of effectiveness.
  • You will coordinate with Leadership Team to provide feedback to Global Products Management on technical issues based upon field feedback to enable ongoing improvements of BSNA equipment products.
  • You will set priorities relating to technical abilities and staffing levels by allocating resources and implementing standard processes to leverage continuous improvement to improve customer satisfaction, reduce cost, and improve productivity.

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, MBA preferred
  • Significant exposure to a North American Security, HVAC, or Fire Protection Business
  • Ten or more years’ experience in a distributed field based organization with significant supervisory responsibility for five or more years.
