What you will do

A Development Chemist in the Agents Development group works on developing and testing next generation fire suppression agents, as well as supporting the existing agents within the portfolio.  
This R&D work includes interfacing with approval agencies to obtain listings on products.  
In addition the Development Chemist will witness and conduct live fire tests and on occasion having to lift up to 40 pounds are also requirements of the position.

A successful candidate for the position would be a creative thinker with a drive for results, be self-directed with the ability to problem solve, have the ability to cultivate effective relationships within cross-functional business teams, and work well with others.  The candidate should have the ability to learn, change, and adapt as needed in support of business priorities and have strong communication skills.

What we look for

Required
•Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry is required 
•2-5 years’ full time work experience as a chemist required 
•Strong laboratory background and lab safety focus

Preferred
•Surfactant and/or Polymer experience is preferred
•Research & development (R&D) experience is desirable
•Experience in Fire Protection field is desirable and willingness to participate in codes and standard development is desirable.
•Experience with stage-gate type product development processes is desirable
•Design for Six Sigma Black Belt course work or certification is a plus
•Project management skills are a plus
