What you will do:

Under general supervision, the Connected Technology Technology Specialist (CTTS), will be responsible for the successful execution of assigned Building Wide Systems Integration (BWSI) & Advanced Solutions scope of work. The successful candidate ensures that assigned projects are executed in alignment with the contract scope of work, the project schedule, and within and/or below the project budget. Additional duties include assurance that all work performed is in compliance with state, local and federal laws, codes and legal requirements all while maintaining nothing but highest of level of ethics in performing their duties. Fully understands, adheres to and ensures that all Johnson Controls personnel and our subcontractors comply with all JCI safety standards and policies.

How you will do it:

  • Act as the primary technology lead from pre-sales development to technology project execution, leading and directing BWSI & Advanced Solutions programs on-site. Including subcontractors, vendors and assigned JCI personnel on assigned projects.
  • Evaluates the contractual scope for the technology deliverables, field directives and/or scheduling and cost changes. Actively pursues additional work by way of change orders. Works with the Project Management team to prepare associated cost estimates and proposals for extra work.
  • Work with estimating, subcontractors, operations and vendor teams to facilitate technology scope submittals.
  • Reviews and interprets technology designs and terms and conditions, to ensure they meet the contractual requirements. Works with development teams on Design Assist projects to help develop the proper technical solution and potential VE options.
  • Ensures technology scopes are installed in a manner to achieve customer acceptance and satisfaction.
  • Manages scope risks, establishes and executes scope specific recovery plans when required. Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and Company standards.
  • Oversees project scope installation and commissioning for compliance with specifications, project schedule, local, state and federal codes and industry best practices and techniques.
  • Manages the product selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for assigned projects.
  • Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, owner’s reps, prime contractors and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required.
  • Ensures subcontractors understand all requirements and expectations of the project.
  • Coordinates with the Project Manager and / or local area Installation Manger for allocation of resources needed to meet project objectives.
  • Ensures engineering and commissioning performed by the field team is in accordance with contract specifications and industry standards. Recognizes and facilitates the need for escalation of project related issues.
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements in accordance with the contract documents.
  • Continual Education – Stays abreast of ever changing technologies. Learns and develops new skills as technology changes. 


What we look for: 

Qualifications: Connected Technology - Technology Specialist 1:

  • Associates Degree or Technical Certifications in one or more of the following: Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of direct technical project management experience in the areas of BMS, fire alarm systems, security systems, or IT networking.
  • Direct installation management of low voltage systems including BMS, Sec/Fire, cabling infrastructure, IT networks (MAN, WAN, LAN WLAN) architecture, and IT-based integration in both construction and owner direct retrofit projects is desired.
  • Direct experience with Software House, Genetec, Vidiant, and American Dynamics is desired for the security role.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer interface skills, documentation and organization skills, process-oriented, problem solving, and the ability to be a highly effective team member is required.
  • Significant travel required.
  • Position is remote and candidate can work from any location
