What you will do

Our team at this location designs, develops, manufacturers, ships, installs, and maintains customized industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels of all sizes to support the needs of the Navy. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for creating CNC programs for the machine tools that help produce parts for this equipment. 

Location: Grantley Plant in York, PA.
Shift: First Shift, Monday-Friday. Typical hours are 7:00am - 4:00pm. Overtime is available.

How you will do it

1. Writes complex programs for multiple axis lathes, milling and drilling machines (4 or 5 axis).

2. Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineers or works independently to develop manufacturing/machining processes from drawings to create a part that meets specifications at lowest cost.

3. Creates tool drawings and set-up sheets for the machine operators.

4. Determines proper tooling to be used for various required base metals. Establishes optimum feeds and speeds. Understands the effects of these variables on the machining process.

5. Works with tooling suppliers to identify tooling improvements. Performs tool testing to verify savings and tool performance.

6. Works with operators for program prove-out.

7. Assists maintenance in machine set-up after machine repair.

8. Troubleshoots manufacturing problems to determine if issue is a process problem versus a machine issue.

9. Must understand and work with multiple models of machine tools and manufacturer’s controls.

10. Designs fixtures to hold parts on a specific machine.

11. Ability to manage software, files, solid models and other interfaces associated with programming software.

What we look for

1. Associate’s degree in a technical field with 5 years experience in programming or minimum of 10 years equivalent industry experience. 

2. Ability to comprehend complex drawings machines and understand geometric tolerances. 

3. Ability to define and communicate complex programming issues. 

4. Basic knowledge of fixtures and fixture design. 

5. Interpersonal skills needed to work successfully with both Engineers and Shop floor personnel.

6. Proficient computer skills and experience in major programming language such as Featurecam or Mastercam. 

1. Auto-CAD and Vericut software experience would be helpful.
2. Experience working with CNC lathes, machining centers, grinders, and routing equipment
