Virtual position.  Can live anywhere in the United States.  

What you will do 

Supports JCI service branches on large, complex, commissioning projects for data centers or complex chiller plants.  Performs high level analysis and engineering review on more complex technical commissioning projects. Provides on-site technical support for field teams on commissioning execution and service delivery of RTU and Chiller equipment. 

How you will do it 

  • Provides application, engineering, & commissioning assistance for Data Center and large projects to ensure they meet objectives, schedules and budgets. 
  • Establishes engineering, control, & commissioning procedures on a job by job basis to ensure timely completion and appropriate cost control. 
  • Reviews sequence of operation developed by customers design team or consultants to ensure proper equipment application / control panel programming for L1 thru L5 commissioning purposes.  
  • Leads or participates in sales to service turnover meetings for scope clarity, personnel requirements, & contractor responsibilities.  
  • Provides on-site technical and training support to field personnel for L1 thru L5 commissioning of Chillers / DX Systems / AHU / Controls for data center application.    
  • Provides training to End Users, Mechanical Contractors and JCI Technicians on the operation of RTU equipment and systems. 
  • Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of electronic enhancements and engineering changes to create new & enhanced product offerings that will improve product performance and lower costs to strengthen sales opportunities. 
  • Prepares or assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents. 
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of engineering reports (e.g. as-builts) for the engineering staff, manufacturing plants, and customers for projects. 
  • Maintains effective working relationships and communications with marketing, service, sales and manufacturing to ensure that products meet customer’s requirements.  
  • Has a high degree of technical competence in specific functional areas including RTU equipment/controls, Chiller equipment/controls, and BAS functionality and how to interact successfully with JCI equipment. 
  • Reviews detailed mechanical and electrical drawings specific to each project. 
  • Assists in locating and expedition of engineered components. 
  • Assists Project Management Group in developing and producing project manuals for use in project management. 
  • Familiarity with JCI warranty systems and how they apply to multiple systems within the data center infrastructure.  Work in conjunction with the JCI branch and Mechanical Contractors to assure streamline approval for warranty issues/repairs. 
  • Report to JCI Product Technical Support, Engineering, and the Factory Quality team any issues related to equipment quality or recommended enhancements(innovation) to the equipment.  

Other Duties: 

  • Uses standard JCI development processes and tools in performing tasks. 
  • Responsible for remaining current with relevant engineering or design standards and practices. 
  • May provide post-contract design review support. 
  • Actively participates in relevant professional organizations.
  • Responsible for the promotion and adherence of JCI safety policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What we look for 

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field as appropriate.  
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of 10 experience. 
  • Ten years of experience in engineering / commissioning chillers / DX equipment, AHU & electronic controls related products.  
  • Ten years of experience in Chilled Water Systems or Operational Processes.  
  • Experience with Central Utility Chilled Water Systems is preferred  
  • Member of ASHRAE, IDEA and function- specific licenses or certifications preferred.   
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects.   
  • Fully competent in analysis and assessment of mechanical and electronic systems. Effectively leading in team settings.   
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable working in customer-facing situations.   
  • Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio and MS Project.   
  • Ability to Travel approximately 50%.
