What you will do:

The Data Scientist Demand Planning is responsible to maintain, prepare, and model data to create advanced technical and analytical solutions to solve complex business problems, turning big data into valuable and actionable insights.  Specifically, maintains and builds proprietary algorithms to increase our forecast accuracy, and enable more efficient management of our $3b+ regional business.

How you will do it:
  • Coordinate, design, build, and integrate complex enterprise infrastructure technology solutions and execute full life-cycle of ELT processes
  • Lead maintenance of existing data and integration of additional disparate data from multiple systems and tools
  • Design, build, and implement processes and procedures to support, streamline, and where possible automate analytic strategies
  • Build algorithms, prototypes, and predictive models using internal organizational and external market data
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting which enables effective business decision making
  • Work closely with demand planners to provide guidance to complete, and as necessary directly completes, data cleaning and maintenance activities
  • Work across functions (sales, marketing, supply chain, IT, finance, operations) to effectively explain complex solutions and influence to build alignment and adoption
  • Support the development of improved forecasting and demand planning processes based on new tools and capabilities.  Support the push towards machine learning driven decision making 

What we look for:  
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related technical field.  Advanced degree in Predictive Analytics or related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related technical experience (statistical analysis/modeling, developing, reporting, and forecasting working with massive data sets ie “big data”)
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing / durable goods industry, specifically in demand and supply planning, preferred
  • Specific automotive battery business / industry knowledge a plus
  • End-to-end experience in data warehousing, including data modeling, loading, transformation, scripting, and process auditing
  • Knowledge of different techniques in machine learning, data mining, statistics and big data infrastructures
  • Experience working with different data sets of varying sizes and shapes and ability to design new, substantially enhance existing, and run algorithms effectively and efficiently
  • Strong understanding of data analysis methods to build statistical models or identify patterns in large data sets
  • Experience with analytical and visualization software packages and programming languages (PowerBI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, Azure ML or related)
  • Experience working with data from ERP and/or manufacturing systems preferred
  • Strong programming and problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data and findings to a non-technical audience
  • Demonstrated track record of ability to deliver results through others and influence without authority
