What you will do

 

At Johnson Controls, we continue to build more efficient and sustainable business practices and as part of that process we are reinventing our proactive product failure/returns analysis team (Warranty). On this team, you will be focusing on continuous improvement and warranty reduction activities on Residential and Light Commercial products. The main objective of this position is to provide factual technical information to the Global Supplier Quality group regarding the mechanism of failure and potential root cause of failure for field return components. The Warranty Returns Analyst Technician will work with Suppliers, Global Supplier Quality, Engineering, Plant Quality and Technical Services to design, document, and carry-out analysis of field returned components.

 

How you will do it

 

  • Responsible for creating test plans, documenting and performing various analyses on components to identify root cause.
  • Handles warranty related activities including data input, processing, and maintenance of warranty databases.
  • Assists on projects to improve cost of quality and warranty claim administration.
  • Performs root cause analysis of warranty issues.
  • Provides assistance to customers by processing data, answering product claims and resolving issues.
  • Maintains corrective action plan for supplier related issues.
  • Coordinates resolution of various warranty claims with distributors
  • Maintains daily contact with engineers, suppliers, etc. on progress towards achieving continuous quality.
  • Upon analysis completion, create a formal failure analysis report of the data and communicate findings to the Global SQE and other groups as needed (Technical Services, Engineering, Quality, Supplier, etc.).
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationship with suppliers.
  • Maintain calibration of analysis equipment and Perform daily 5S activities to keep area clean, organized and safe.
  • Familiarity with electronics standard documentation, specifically related to circuit board design and production. Perform updates of the documentation as needed.

What we look for

 

Required:

  • University Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline and one (1) year related experience or Associate's Degree and six (6) years related experience
  • Experience in failure analysis to the component level (direct work experience in the testing of electrical and/or mechanical components used in HVAC/R equipment preferred)
  • Skills in quality auditing and other quality assurance techniques
  • Project management skills and/or training
  • Must be able to analyze and solve complex product or system problems
  • Ability to navigate in moderately complex databases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail
