What you will do
 
In accordance with corporate and group policies and procedures, the Director of Direct Materials is accountable for managing a multi-discipline, pan-EMEA JCI products procurement team, with associated oversight of the planning and procurement of all 3rd party spend (Direct materials and Indirect) required to support 25 manufacturing operations across Europe, Middle East and Africa.  This position is responsible for an annual spend circa $800m. The Vice Presidents and GMs of each Product vertical are critical customers to this position.
 
Managing circa 9 direct reports and an overall departmental headcount of circa 32, operating across multiple  Countries (seven different cultures and languages), this includes, but is not limited to, the acquisition of products, parts, subassemblies and indirect spend used by all manufacturing locations across EMEA. Ensuring the materials are acquired at the right price, time, and quality, and providing whatever other support is necessary to ensure the business has the products, services and support needed to meet end-user customer service demands and contractual support obligations. 
 
The job purpose also includes the proactive identification of process improvement and simplification initiatives to make the overall operations and interactions with stakeholders more efficient, cost effective and expeditious.  The role is also at the center for interaction with the Global Sourcing & Procurement organization, to ensure the seamless implementation of cost savings initiatives and continuously identify and implement incremental “localized” cost savings projects and programs that have a cash effective impact to the EMEA Products Businesses. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, align, and implement several different supply chain strategies to deliver the most cost-effective methods for our manufacturing sites to procure both materials and services from suppliers to execute the solutions we promise our customers. A key deliverable of this role is to ensure our manufacturing operations teams are efficiently executing our supply chain strategies allowing our extended procurement team to influence a greater percentage of spend to increase year over year savings.
 
Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to:  Cost Savings, TWC, quality, supplier rationalization, and other agreed objectives
Ensure alignment between our category management team and the unique/specific needs of the regional manufacturing locations during category strategy development.
Implement and directly manage the systems, processes and procedures governing the procurement of direct materials / finished goods from the right suppliers, at the right price, quality and delivery requirements to the various manufacturing units across EMEA.
Implement and monitor appropriate controls to ensure processes and procedures are performed in a compliant manner and regularly review via dashboards, metrics and measures to identify ongoing areas for improvement across all facets of the Procurement operation.
 Ensure “localized” Sourcing activities are executed, create and manage sourcing pipeline, and deliver targeted savings projects for each business unit. Drive low cost sourcing program and Value Engineering to maximize saving opportunities. Work closely with Global Sourcing, Product Management, Operations & Suppliers and directly own and lead such initiatives where agreed.
 Establish and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders. Provide thought leadership and act as a technical liaison / team lead for supply chain / logistics and distribution initiatives directly or indirectly impacting or relying on Procurement Operations support; personally engage in supplier and customer relationship management activities including briefings on progress, escalation management, supplier changes, etc.
 Manage and develop an inspired, diverse team across a multi-site / location, pan-Europe environment; create personal development plans for team members to ensure continuous evolution and development of the team.
 Develop and execute plans to align Transactional Procurement processes across Europe, enhancing the current Centre of Excellence (COE) model to cover all operations within Europe.
Acts with internal & external customers in mind; promotes customer focused business practices; takes time to establish personal contact with key internal customers at all levels of management and ensure organizational and business needs are being met; constantly looking for “voice of the customer” with respect to continuous improvement opportunities
Works with minimal supervision and may be assisted by entry and intermediate level employees.
 Drive efforts concerning supply base rationalization and supplier development
Guarantee compliance with BOS procedures and DoA requirements
 Develop and report business metrics that measure the performance according to business objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Procurement.

Requires national and international travel up to 60% of the time

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. MBA desirable
10+ years of procurement systems and process expertise (incl. Procure to Pay workflows); multi-ERP systems knowledge; customer and supplier relationship management – dealing at the highest levels.
Project and program management – Green Belt or Black Belt designation
Sound familiarity and hand’s-on experience with global procurement and supply chain management competencies, including strong people management and development across multiple cultures and languages.
Experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge preferred.  
Construction and/or building solutions equipment and services knowledge desirable.
