What you will do: 

The PMO Director leads the information technology program management discipline for a business group globally. Designs and executes the strategy related to project methodology, architecture, tools, processes, and resource planning and allocation. Manages and develops IT program leadership talent.

The position reports into the Executive Director of the ePMO for Corporate and will drive the project portfolio for the Global Operations and Technology team and coach and mentor the team to manage the individual projects and programs.  You will be responsible for a Project Portfolio of $35m+ across the Global Operations and Technology team.

How you will do it: 

Investment Planning & Budget Management, Project Planning & Management


  • Work closely with the leadership team to align different initiatives within JCI’s IT strategy roadmap
  • Develop and manage the standards for IT projects from beginning to end, including project scope, timeline, capacity planning, resource allocation, and project execution
  • Build and maintain formal governance, compliance, and management oversight to help drive consistency across the Portfolio and PMO
  • Provide governance and reporting on programs across dimensions of cost, schedule, scope, and RAID (risks, actions, issues, and decisions)
  • Provide project management and direction to ensure project managers have a clear understanding of timelines, risks, escalation path and roles/responsibilities they will undertake within the project team
  • Provide oversight of Program and Project Managers and work with Business-IT Engagement teams to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs
  • Assist in project scoping efforts, and guide Project Managers in project planning, identification of project interdependencies, and project execution within budget and schedule
  • Identify business process optimization opportunities, convert them into business case proposals, and drive them through successful completion
  • Set and manage Portfolio/Program expectations, ensuring all applicable functional areas are engaged on the programs
  • Manage program communication, project meetings, and outreach to relevant teams
  • Partner with IT Portfolio Management, IT Business Partners and Transformation Office to conduct program intake and verify alignment of projects to business and IT strategy
  • Participate in the Annual Planning Process to ensure alignment of the Investment Portfolio to the Regional or Business Unit Financial Profit Plan and IT Strategy
  • Collaborate with the IT Portfolio Lead to track and report on overall portfolio budget and schedule (actual vs. planned)

  • Partner with the Office of the CIO to inform standards, methods, and tools for Waterfall, Hybrid, and Agile Delivery
  • Develop templates and other necessary tools to be utilized in project planning and implementation
  • Establish continuous improvement in the development and implementation of PMO processes and policies
  • Ensure the production and availability of all project related artifacts for future reference
  • Recruit and develop high performing internal talent to support the level of portfolio demand, expanding and contracting with external resources when necessary
  • Coach and mentor project team members ensuring a successful execution
  • Enable Project Manager capability development of all Project Management staff, project stakeholders, and the expansion of Project Management general knowledge across the program through various learning and development initiatives and services
  • Prioritize projects based on various factors such as risk and compliance and business needs 
  • Establish continuous improvement and serve as primary advisor of project management best practices and other resources to meet the demands of the Project Managers dedicated to the program

What we look for: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or project management field from an accredited 4 year university.
  • 12+ years experience in successfully delivering key Infrastructure projects.
  • Project Management (PMI), Program Management, or Professional (PMP, PRINCE2) or Agile methodologies certification strongly preferred
  • 10 years experience managing large multidisciplinary projects with multiple teams located domestically and abroad.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in both Waterfall and Agile project methodologies for a total of 5 years experience in managing projects as a program/project manager, PMO or scrum master.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience and comfortable in working in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent command of English language.
  • Strong Leadership skills and ability to influence and lead in driving projects to delivery.
