What you will do
The primary purpose of this position is to direct the delivery of risk management services, technical expertise and solutions to the company's Business Units within the Americas region.

How you will do it
Risk Identification and Evaluation:  
  • Responsible for directing the development, implementation and management of efficient and effective strategies and processes to continuously identify and evaluate risk across the company's Business Units and their operations in the Americas region. 
  • Builds strong relationships and leads culturally, geographically, and functionally diverse teams across the region to create a proactive risk identification and evaluation process and to instill a risk aware culture. 
  • Leads the risk management assessment process for mergers and acquisitions, new business opportunities, supply chain, and significant capital investments within the region.  
  • Proactively communicates risk assessment results and solutions to Corporate and Business Unit senior management.
Loss Prevention and Mitigation: 
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of strategies and solutions to prevent losses from occurring and to mitigate their impact on the human, physical, and financial assets of the company.  
  • Leads culturally, geographically, and functionally diverse teams across the region to design and implement loss prevention and mitigation strategies and solutions including participating on the regional business continuity and crisis management teams. 
  • Measures prevention and mitigation performance and communicates results with Business Unit senior management. Shares best practices across the region.
Contract Review:  
  • Responsible for directing the risk management review of contracts in order to identify risks, to ensure compliance with the company's contractual requirements and standards, and to deliver an equitable allocation of risk between the parties. 
  • Builds strong relationships with the Business Units within the region and their general counsels, including external counsel. Resolves contractual impasses and conflicts through effective negotiation, influencing and communication skills. 
  • Continuously reviews, improves and updates the company's contractual philosophies and standards to provide a more sustainable and effective contract review process. 
  • Directs, where necessary, third party consultants to conduct risk management contract review. Primary point of contact with liability insurance broker on Certificate of Insurance issuance process and evolution. 
Property Protection
  • Responsible for directing the delivery of property protection engineering and consulting services and strategies to the Business Units and their facilities within the region. 
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with regional Business Unit senior management, regional facility management, and external engineering consultants to ensure a highly efficient and effective property protection review process.
  • This position is accountable and responsible for directing the completion or resolution of all outstanding property protection recommendations and for the overall Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status of the company's facilities within the region. Leads the review of outstanding recommendations and communicates the HPR status of the region to Corporate and Business Unit senior management.
Insurance & Claims Support:  
  • Responsible for influencing and communicating the structure of the company's global property and casualty insurance and claims management programs within the region. 
  • Ensures compliance with the company's insurance and claims policies and standards.  
  • Develops and implements regional risk finance and insurance strategies that complement the company's existing global programs to provide a competitive advantage and protection to the company's Business Units.
  • Leads the collection and analysis of renewal information and data with the region. 
  • Communicates the company's risk financing philosophies and strategies, and global insurance budget and allocation processes to regional Business Unit senior management. 
  • Resolves issues and provides solutions for the Business Units.  
  • Supports the Corporate claims management team by identifying and reporting regional property and casualty claims.

What we look for
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor Degree in risk management, insurance, finance, law, economics, business administration or related field. 
  • Master degree or a Preferred Certification (ARM, CPCU, CRM, CIC, FIRM, etc.) An additional five years of work experience and/or at least one Preferred Certification in lieu of a Master degree accepted.
  • Experience overseeing US Workers Compensation claim processes
  • At least 10 years in risk management, insurance, finance, law, business administration or related field. 
  • Experience with a Fortune 500 company with global operations required. Supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, commercial property and casualty insurance, claims, health and safety, business continuity, and environmental issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and teams, to develop and implement innovative strategies, to communicate effectively with senior management, and to effect change across a large and diverse organization. 
  • Experience with Microsoft software business applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
  • Experience working within a risk management information systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Conversational in Spanish. Portuguese a plus
  • Strong leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
