Engineering Manager - HVAC & Security

About the role

This role will be responsible for providing leadership and operational support to achieve the planned operational objectives for the Engineering team, including excellence in operational delivery, standardisation of engineering deliverables, more effective resource planning, customer satisfaction and employee engagement.


  • Leadership of the NSW Engineering team of 7-8
  • Develop/maintain standard HVAC & Security engineering deliverables.
  • Produce technical specifications, prepare engineering inputs for BMS &Security systems, ensure software testing and results meet customer specifications and are compliant with Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Resource planning for the engineering team.
  • Mentoring and personal development training plans for the Engineering team.
  • Maintain the required level of customer satisfaction across all HVAC & Security projects involving the Engineering team.
  • Support the sales process for the NSW/ACT Systems team, including customer presentations, provision of technical engineering expertise and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance to ADT/JCI QA processes.
  • Maintain a safe and proper work environment on all project sites
  • Implement JCA EH&S systems/processes and carry out audit requirements on all assigned projects
  • Co-ordination of installation and commissioning services for assigned projects
  • Support of the Design and Commissioning phases in all projects
  • Produce Design and Commissioning documents – As-Builts, ITPs, Programming Sheets

  • Skills/Qualifications

    • Developed interpersonal skills to effectively work with customers and rest of the systems team
    • Electrical engineering degree / A grade electrician OR Mechanical engineering degree OR similar technical qualification
    • Excellent knowledge of common BMS & Security systems – Gallagher/Tecom/Concept preferred
    • Previous experience (min 5 years) within the construction industry / Security industry
    • Previous experience of about 5-10 years managing a team (management capability)
    • Established Computing (application) skills including Word, MS Project, Excel, Visio, CAD
