Johnson Controls produces 146 million batteries every year.  We power every type of passenger vehicle, heavy-duty and light commercial trucks, motorcycles, golf cars, lawn and garden tractors and marine applications.

 

The facility in Geneva, IL is seeking production associates to fill multiple utility positions.  

  • Non incentive employees can earn up to $20.87/hour plus shift differential.  
  • Incentive employees earn $14.79/hour plus shift differential and earn incentive potential on top of their base wage.  The plant average earnings for an incentive employee is an average of 140% of regular earnings.

1 year of manufacturing experience required.  Machine operator experience required.

 

Job description

 

This position is for 2nd shift.  Shift times are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM – or – 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.  If overtime is required you may be asked to come in early or stay late depending on production demands or staffing shortages.  Saturdays and Sundays are overtime options.

 

Load envelope rolls on machine.  The machine wire brushes the lugs of the plates to clean them and loads positive and negative plates to the walking beam of magazine hopper.  Haul trucks of positive and negative plates from storage to the envelope stacker and return trucks of unused plates to storage.

 

Observes operation of machine, clears plate and separator jams, and makes adjustment to machine for proper operation.  Makes changeovers on machine to produce all sizes of elements with all types of plates and separators.  Use vacuum cleaner to remove oxide dust from machine and cleans area around machine.  Keeps record and count of scrap.

 

As the output of this machine is controlled by subsequent burning equipment cycles, additional work can be performed by the operator up to the cycle time.

 

Production associate duties include:

  • Lubricate machine and make minor repairs as needed
  • Machine trouble shooting or repair experience preferred
  • Adhere to all safety standards including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirator)
  • Perform set up of machines (including calibration and clean up) to exact specifications and ensure material is loaded properly
  • Know how to perform all functions on assigned production machines, including controlling and adjusting machine settings, feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines
  • Assemble battery components by wrapping them in protective material
  • Perform all production processes in a timely manner to meet goals
  • Verify that product meets quality standards and keep records of approved and defective units
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervision

Successful Production Associates must be willing to learn new things and work in a team environment to get the product out in a safe and timely manner, while meeting quality standards and production goals.

 

Pre-employment background check, education certification, physical, drug screen and proof of employment eligibility required.

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency required
  • Must have machine operator experience
  • Productive independent worker
  • Must be able to work all shifts up to 12 hours, as overtime may be required due to production demands and staffing shortages
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to read and understand all production specifications required
  • Ability to neatly and accurately record required data
  • Fork lift or material handling experience preferred
  • Warehouse or Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Inventory experience preferred
  • Machine troubleshooting or repair experience preferred
