What you will do

On a global basis, support the Executive Director Risk Management with the negotiation and administration of property and casualty insurance coverage(s) and settlement of property claims that are either insured or self assumed.  Be accountable for the Corporation’s cost of risk which include property and casualty insurance premiums, self-assumed property and casualty claims and costs of professional fees and loss prevention activities.  Provide technical expertise, direction, and knowledge in engineering risk analysis and risk reduction methods to the Corporation.


The expectations are, on a global basis, to provide assistance to the Executive Director in the negotiation of competitively priced property insurance coverage(s) and satisfactory and equitable settlements of property insurance claims and administration of various property insurance policies.  Other expectations to economically improve risks of facilities and fire-safe workplaces; to provide practical directions on preventing losses; and to assist developing accurate data to establish insurance underwriting conditions.  On a global basis, the customers are plant management, sector management, project teams, department members, and insurance companies and insurance brokers.

 
How you will do it
  • Assist the Executive Director to analyze insurance proposal(s) and negotiate premium(s) and coverage’s which are competitively priced and which provide the Corporation with insurance coverage and loss prevention services that are consistent with its needs.
  • Take the lead to obtain timely and equitable settlement of insurance claims following the terms of the insurance policy(‘s) and accepted loss handling procedures in collaboration with the Senior Risk Analyst.
  • Take the lead to provide consultative, investigative and advisory service throughout the entire Corporation, as well as outside the company, when required, to minimize and control insurance costs, protect personnel and preserve company properties and profits.
  • Take the lead to publish and update Risk Management Portal and Internal Risk Management policies.
  • Accountable to capture best practices to prevent future losses based on industry benchmark and history of the company.
  • Apprise management of noncompliance with risk reduction recommendations that could become the underlying cause of significant financial loss to the Corporation and reach agreement that is cost effective.
  • Captive Insurance Company/ Deductible Policy Reimbursement program: 
  • Works with third party service providers to resolve issues and facilitates the operation and growth.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance Operations: 
    • Provides day-to-day leadership and analysis necessary for structuring, placing, negotiating, binding, renewing, monitoring and measuring the global property and casualty insurance programs.  
    • Implements at an operational level standardized processes for collecting, analyzing, and reporting renewal exposures, values and other necessary information.  
    • Processes data necessary for aggregating, budgeting, and allocating insurance and claims costs.  
    • Prepares standard reports and metrics for preparing actuarial studies; monitoring, evaluating, benchmarking and reporting on the company's property and casualty insurance programs.  
    • Understands and executes standardized programs, policies, and procedures necessary for the continual evolution of the risk financing program including insurance policy review, maintenance and insurance renewal management.  
  • Interfaces with risk management consultants on specific projects.
  • Designs, updates, and distributes risk information.
  • Receive reports from insurance industry personnel and other Department personnel concerning audits of insurance policies and invoices to ensure proper administration of these policies.
  • Ensure the existence of adequate crisis management or disaster preparedness plans in response to physical damage.
  • Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know.  Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious.  Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; candid, yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive.

What we look for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Occupational Health & Safety, Finance,    Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.  MBA preferred.
  • Ten or more years risk management experience in a large multinational corporation a plus.
  • Five or more years at a manager level supervising employees.
  • Preferred certifications:  ARM, CRM, CPCU, CIC, FIRM or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management, captive insurance company creation and operation and international insurance and claims expertise
  • Strong financial orientation and ability to simplify complex environments and issues.
  • Global manufacturing and field service experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing and data mining within Risk Management Information Systems.
  • Strong communications skills – this position interfaces with the Board of Directors, corporate and business unit senior management and other business functions.
  • Effective leadership, coaching and counseling skills required.
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiations, persuasion and diplomacy skills to work closely with internal and external customers, suppliers and vendors.
  • The incumbent must have broad knowledge and experience in industrial fire hazards, construction, maintenance, and operations of manufacturing industries.  This position requires the ability to motivate others not directly under his control.  A broad range of skills with other languages, especially Spanish is very beneficial.  Good verbal and written skills are essential.
