What you will do

Under general direction, provide training and support to the Area Managers and Local Market Managers / Supervisors on fleet-related processes. Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve fleet-related costs, processes, and issues. Execute Fleet Strategies implemented by the NA Corporate Fleet team by managing the fleet processes from start to finish. Engage Fleet Coordinators as necessary to support these processes. Advise Area Management and Local Markets on sound fleet-related decisions. The position requires senior level work in which the position holder must use expertise to identify deficiencies. This level of expertise qualifies the individual to make sound judgments and take independent corrective action. The position works with minimal supervision acting independently in making decisions requiring specialized knowledge of fleet management processes. A thorough understanding of internal Johnson Controls business practices and applications are involved to various degrees in managing the design, development, implementation and monitoring of these same procedures and applications.

How you will do it

  • Ensure all fleet assets are handled according to policy and that resources invested in assets are being used most effectively.
  • Review and approve fleet decisions related to maintenance, repairs, total losses, spare vehicles and temporary fuel cards, ensuring that fleet operations is maintained at the best possible cost with the least disruption.
  • Manage Motorist Observation Report investigative process, ensuring confidentiality, engaging parties as necessary (safety/HR), and that corrective actions are completed.
  • Execute the vehicle replacement process / order cycle as scheduled to ensure proper vehicle replacements are identified, appropriate replacement vehicles and options are selected, and fleet operations is maintained at the best possible cost.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, rulings and other developments that affect fleet operations, and operate accordingly. Maintain familiarity with DOT regulations. Communicate as needed to the field organization.
  • Perform exception reporting analysis as required, taking action as appropriate (ex. PUC, ATS, MVR).
  • Review monthly fleet performance reports, identify issues, and propose corrective actions as appropriate to the Area or Local Market Management teams.
  • Provide fleet training and support to supervisors as needed to improve their fleet and driver operations to ensure smooth operations at the best cost.
  • Address driver and manager escalations as needed to answer questions, issues, and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a primary source of information on fleet program to Area Management and Local Market supervisors. Ensure effective communication on policy and compliance enforcement issues.
  • Identify fleet best business practices and facilitate the propagation of these practices to other local markets.
  • Maintain Fleet SharePoint site as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we look for

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or management preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of related work experience. Fleet or Procurement/Sourcing experience a plus.
  • Ability to perform work independently and demonstrate solid organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management, both internal and external.
  • Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence to include excellent analytical and strong problem-solving capabilities and skills.
  • This would include the ability to prioritize work activities based upon financial impact to desired business goals and meet deadlines, while upholding the integrity of the organization.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to multi-task while ensuring initiatives fully executed.
  • Proficient computer skills within the following applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet business application usage.
