What you will do
                 

The Global Information Security (GIS) Awareness & Communications Manager will champion an information security awareness program and activities that cultivate a risk-conscious culture concerning cybersecurity at Johnson Controls. This role is responsible for leading and executing multifaceted enterprise-wide information security awareness transformation projects, identifying gaps and architecting solutions to expand and enhance awareness and adoption of secure behaviors.  

 

The manager will develop information security awareness and communication strategies and deliver engaging information security awareness content across a broad audience using multiple channels. The ideal candidate will have a proven marketing & communications track-record, is a creative strategist, and possesses a keen interest in inspiring employees to implement information security best practices as part of their daily business activities. This role requires significant cross-functional collaboration with other corporate and business functions including Information Technology, Global Products Security, Human Resources, Compliance, Data Privacy, Learning and Development, and third-party partners.

 
 
 
How you will do it
 
  • Functional responsibility to lead, build and deliver strategies, methodologies, communications campaigns and training plans that raise information security awareness and advance a culture of security across a global and diverse population of employees.
  • Manage team of employees and their performance. Establish team performance expectations, goals and objectives aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Build team capacity and capabilities through timely feedback, coaching and support.
  • Provide strategic consulting related to information security awareness and education for organization-wide initiatives; conducting needs assessments to identify and evaluate training requirements.
  • Develop awareness strategies and delivery approaches such as lectures, demonstrations, interactive exercises, multimedia presentations, video courses, web-based courses, etc.
  • Implement and maintain a program metrics framework to evaluate effectiveness and employee sentiment of programs and initiatives, making recommendations and adjustments to maximize impact.
  • Define track and report colleague engagement (i.e., Employee Information Security Awareness Scorecard) and additional communications metrics aligned to delivery of services and business goals.
  • Manage and enhance intranet sites and other collaboration sites to refresh content and align with information security awareness program objectives.
  • Research and study advancements in educational technologies and methods. Recommend and implement creative solutions, modifications and enhancements related to awareness program improvements.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of existing courses, resources, and vendors to ensure high quality program content. Stay current and educated on trends, innovations, and applications within the learning & development field.
  • Provide quality assurance feedback on content such as company information technology policies, instructional guides, online learning modules, and related materials developed within the Global Information Security function.
  • Understand current cybersecurity threats and incorporate into awareness content and communications.
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships necessary to maintain compliance records related to training, communications, and employee engagement activities for regulatory purposes.

What we look for
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on one of the following areas of study: Information Security, Communications, Adult Education, Instructional Design, or Marketing.  
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience, with experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Corporate Communications, or Security Awareness Programs.
  • Experience developing teams, leading technical projects, and ensuring documented requirements are delivered with quality.
  • A successful track record of motivating, engaging and working with virtual teams.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and drive change across a complex organization and multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional collaboration skills when working with global and diverse cross-functional teams, and in peer relationships where understanding and appreciating differences is highly important.
  • Effectively manages emotions, listens and communicates with respect, and builds trusting relationships.
  • Experience with managing and tracking Information Security Awareness program financials at or below relevant fiscal targets.
  • Exemplary interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to assemble, document, and present technical information to leadership (and large groups). Persuasion and influencing skills are a must.
  • Ability to adjust to conditions that are continually changing and evolving.
 
Preferred
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design best practices.
  • Experience leading a cybersecurity awareness team.
  • Experience planning and implementing information security awareness program elements and/or role-based training programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information security policies, standards, and/or governance controls in complex computing environments.
  • Experience working across multiple lines of business to design and implement training plans and track organizational progress, development, and metrics.
