What you will do
Is responsible for Occupational Health service and Safety Management System to ensure correct standard is provided to all employees in alignment to JC HS Philosophy and adherence to Customer’s HSE policies and requirements where JCI performs service. (Gulf Coast Industrial Sector)

How you will do it 

  • Develop and Issue Safety Management System supported by Regional documents according to BOS
  • Audit the effectiveness of the Safety Management System and report issues to top management
  • Improve and modify Safety Management System to protect organization against litigation and prosecution
  • Follow recent developments in the legislation and advise company on compliance
  • Create Industrial-wide resource basis for legal advice on all H&S and Environmental matters
  • Act as the prime contact to the HSE authorities, maintain & foster good relations with the HSE authorities including Customer HSE Managers
  • Relies on - and cooperates closely with - the central resources for Ergonomics
  • Develop programs and coach Service Leaders for Preventive Programs (cf. PEIP)
  • Liaise with insurers for all company liability claims, property protection etc
  • Communicate H&S and E performance to management and Customer’s Contractor Safety HSE Representatives
  • Cooperate with regional purchasing team to identify opportunities for cost savings related to HSEE matters.
  • Challenge breaches in safety standards
  • Provide training as appropriate
 
  • Organize and implement Standardized PPE program in order to ensure correct standard PPE is provided at an acceptable cost
  • Conduct H&S Compliance Audits in accordance with the regional BOS instructions and communicate audit results to management
  • Provide service to the local coordinators in the plants by performing relatively simple “in house” statutory required measurements at no costs (noise measurements, ESD measurements, infrared thermographic surveys, etc.)
 
General:
 
  • HSEE :
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training
  • Follow required emergency prevention and operational controls
  • Report all accidents, occupational illnesses and emergencies
  • Participate in the Local Safety Council Requirements for entry into all Gulf Coast Industrial Plants including but not limited to:
  1. Basic Safety Training
  2. Site Specific Training (Customers Houston/Beaumont Area provide services)
  3. Contractor Safety Meetings
  4. TWIC Requirements
  5. ASAP/NASAP/DISA (Drug & Alcohol testing
  6. Give presentations about current safety hazards based on JCI, Customer and Market research to educate others about avoiding health, safety, and environmental hazards.
  7. Go into the field to investigate environmental accidents and other safety concerns within the Industrial market.
  8. Work with Service Leaders to investigate reported incidents, near misses and any other potential hazardous situation. 
Quality:
  • Apply, execute and maintain function related BOS issues
  • In addition to the above mentioned tasks other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined

What we look for
  • Engineering or Bachelors Degree in Ergonomics or in body mechanics
  • 5 to 8 years experience in Ergonomics in the industry
  • Content of Health, Safety and Environmental Standards (ISO14001, OHSAS 18001)
  • Content of Health and Safety Regulations of the host country
  • Content of Environmental Legislation of the host country
  • Basic knowledge of NFPA Fire Protection Standards or any other local Fire Protection standard
