What you will do

The Technical Communication and Training Specialist uses myriad strategic communications skills to help cultivate a risk-conscious company culture regarding cybersecurity at Johnson Controls. The analyst plans for and produces effective global employee communications and training material regarding cybersecurity threats (and how to protect both the company and one’s self against them), cybersecurity services and resources for employees, company policies, and other topics as necessary.

How you will do it
Primary Duties
  • Research and write cybersecurity-focused communications and training material for various global employee audiences for company channels including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Email
    • Company SharePoint portals
    • Webinars
    • MYJCI Video Channel
    • In-person presentations
    • Digital/physical posters
    • Online learning modules
  • Develop integrated communication campaigns and training strategies to educate employees about cybersecurity. 
  • Build strong working relationships with members from internal partner teams like Corporate Communications, Data Privacy, Learning & Development, Global Product Security, Human Resources, and Global Infrastructure IT.
  • Proof and provide feedback on materials such as company policies, standards, instructional guides, and online learning modules.
  • Co-manage a global cybersecurity ambassador program, from creating and managing program content to hosting regular virtual ambassador meetings.
  • Co-host global informational webinars geared towards various employee audiences.
  • Maintain the internal Cybersecurity Community SharePoint side; update news articles, digital whitepapers, and other content as necessary. 

What we look for

The ideal candidate is a highly organized communications or training professional with excellent writing and strategic planning skills, a creative spirit, and a keen interest to help employees better understand cybersecurity and how it impacts their respective lives both at home and at work.

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on one of the following areas of study: English, Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Adult Education, Instructional Design, or Marketing.
  • Exceptional written communication, public speaking, and campaign-planning skills.
  • At least two years of professional experience working in any of the following fields: internal communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, content management, technical writing, marketing, instructional design, or training.
  • Master’s degree in strategic communications, journalism, or instructional design.
  • Professional experience working in and/or communicating about technology (especially cybersecurity).
  • Available portfolio of past work.
  • Previous SharePoint or content management systems.
  • Video editing skills.
