What you will do
The Critical Application Architect is responsible for the portfolio of IT services and solutions supporting our Critical Monitoring Center (CMC) call and data center operations in the United States, as well as our CMC team operational needs. The Critical Application Architect ensures Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) CMC technology portfolio enhances organizational strategy through successful, consistent and predictable architectural design & implementation of technology solutions which support our call center operations. Responsible for contributing ideas to strategy and planning of future business needs and to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.

Location: Aurora, CO or Kansas City, MO office preferred. May be open to virtual/remote (work-from-home) options.

How you will do it
• Proactively monitoring and managing performance of Monitoring, Signaling Telecommunications and Down Line load applications
• Manage software updates and enhancements (patches/upgrades)
• Owns data/technical issues and works with IT and Software Vendors to resolve
• Provide applications assistance to technical teams and the business
• Designs and develops application to meet business requirements or enhance performance
• Partner with business on future business needs, strategy, planning, communications and documentation
• Knowledge of and application of Services Oriented Architecture and Agile Development Methods
• Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis and design, and programming techniques.
• Knowledge of systems design, development, and interconnectivity.
• Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
• Able to resolve issues in a professional manner, lead working groups, negotiate, and create consensus.
• Determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
• Identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
• Build and introduce complex technical documents, procedures, reports, briefings and proposals.
• Develop and advocate data management policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent data management operations.
• Develop methods of ensuring that the data incompatibilities among systems are systematically eliminated.
• Effectively diagnose, isolate and expediently resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure
• Effectively monitor program/project development
• Evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity.
• Provide an enterprise-wide perspective into IT-related decisions

What we look for

• Strong knowledge and experience working with Mastermind Software
• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or 6 or more years of equivalent experience
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting systems
• Two or more years experience in the administration and performance tuning of database systems including with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 thru 2016
• Knowledge of systems design, development, interconnectivity and cloud solutions
• Proactive mindset with a focus on customer service, continuous improvement, and follow through at all levels
• Team-oriented attitude to help other colleagues and departments with technical problems.
• Willingness to solve complicated problems and see projects through to completion.
• Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions.
• Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize numerous projects at one time with high attention to detail
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)
