What you will do?

The EHS Process Improvement Manager will lead all EHS activities and programs across the Global Products LATAM business units of Johnson Controls.

The individual in this role will be a Key Transformation Coach in our Enterprise EHS Strategy and PBU Strategic Action Plans. This role is responsible for ensure the execution and sustaining of the EHS Management Systems; which includes compliance with applicable regulations, the JCMS Principles and our Zero Harm Vision; also leading cultural change by demonstrating exceptional leadership and engaging employees on all levels. This role will report to the Director EHS Manufacturing Operations LATAM, Global Products.

How you will do it?

  • Insuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate EHS systems.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills of Lean Manufacturing & Safety Kaizens, to lead the way to EHS Zero Harm (Behaviorally + Leading Indicators + Gemba Walkthrough)
  • Support the Safety Culture across all Plants, based on our 4 Pillars: Demonstrating Safety Leadership, Drivers of Safety, Involve others in Safety Leadership and Build Safety Leadership at all levels.
  • Drive sustainability programs across the region to achieve the Corporate KPIs.
  • Evaluate and analyzes key performance indicators to determine trends and the need for modifications or development of EHS policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure the MOC processes across our LATAM plants & distribution & engineering centers.
  • Supporting property risk by partnering with Plants in insuring compliance with FM Global assessments.
  • Maintaining and improving the corporate environmental management system. 
  • Conducts research in order to apply the best industrial and working practices.
  • Leverages technology and forward thinking while leading safety improvement projects.
  • Lead the EHS Strategic Action Plans of each PBU, ensuring the tracking of all activities, across of Annual Plans (Middle and Short Term).
  • Measures and audits the effectiveness of EHS hazard control programs.
  • Partner with multiple parties including, Legal, Finance, Communications and Executive leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for EHS across the business unit
  • Communicate with peers and management across the company to transfer information and best practices that support and promote effective and efficient compliance and risk management
  • Focus on our Organizational Health Index to can create a better safe workplace to
  • Support all BCP Plans across the LATAM region.
  • Support Industrial hygiene programs across the region.
  • Support the local EHS Teams to keep updated the EHSIS data base, and standardize the EHSIS (ProcessMap) practices to use all modules.
  • Develop an EHS 4.0 projects using an EHSIS system, and another professionals systems, to minimize the administrative waste on our EHS Reports and processes.
  • Create a Stronger and Professional "Thinking mind mode", on all EHS Professionals, focused on Prevention and Behavioral Systems, using a Creative & Analytics models.

What we look for?

  • 7-10+ years proven experience and a track record of leading EHS programs in a manufacturing or industrial setting, thereby creating increased awareness, heightened standards, and improved performance at individual site locations or business-wide.
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, accurate, analytical and act with a sense of urgency when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to professionally communicate with a wide variety of individuals, respond to inquiries, and provide feedback in a timely manner.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental engineering, environmental science, chemical engineering or other relevant field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certification is preferred.
  • A strong business perspective that includes the ability to work with all levels of the company, including site personnel as well as senior management, including a strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives.
  • High-level of leadership skills, as well as interpersonal characteristics reflecting uncompromising integrity, results-orientation, a collaborative style, a commitment to talent development, and a highly positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SafeStart, STOP or other behavior based safety program preferred.

•     Strong technical skills and experience in OSHA and EPA Programs are required.
