What you will do

The translation coordinator will help build out a translation Centre of Excellence (COE) for Johnson Controls. The function involves supporting Johnson Controls business units to fulfill their translation requirements. The translation coordinator works with preferred translation vendors to provide a translation service of exceptional quality to the Johnson controls business units.

Manage the internal and vendor side of JCI Translation Centre of Excellence (COE).

Operationally responsible for more complex customer orders/quotes, acting as the primary triage for business unit requests.

Work closely with stakeholder teams to deliver products according to deadlines and clients’ specifications also to support the team in business development efforts with prospects and client referrals.

Assume responsibility for:
KPI and metric management
Managing vendors who provide JCI translations

Managing communication and structure internally at JCI for global translation program engaging with stakeholders to define needs, provide forecasting, manage budgets, manage capacity etc.

Work closely with vendor team(s) leading projects in order to improve our quality, efficiency and execution.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholder groups, reviewers and translation partner(s)

Assume the role of primary Program contact, including successful new client team onboarding.

Drive development, implementation and maintenance of PM procedures.

Reporting of KPIs and budget data.

Work closely with operational account management to set, drive and implement overall account strategy as well as delegating workload and tasks within project team.

Supervision by more senior Marketing Communications staff and management.

Must be able to understand translation requirements and vendor pricing.  Ability to interact with engineers to understand how products work and transform that knowledge into information assets.

Ability to interact with senior staff as well as engineers from around the world. Adapts readily to changing work demands; maintains composure under pressure. Can present to management on the progress status of own work and other colleagues’ work. Works effectively with others, shares information, demonstrates integrity and honors commitments.

Support Johnson Controls business units to fulfill their translation requirements

Work with preferred translation vendors to provide translation services for a variety of media, including written documentation, web pages, help files, and digital media.

Implements and supports translation CoE tooling, understands translation vendor pricing.

What we look for

[Required Qualifications – Education, Skills & Experience]

Master’s degree in a translation or associated discipline (or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience).

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a translation coordinator.  0-2 years with an advanced degree.

You are familiar with and have experience across the following areas :

Language technology tooling options or can have meaningful conversations around same

Language quality concepts and methodologies

Multiple content types across marketing, website, manufacturing, DTP, Software, AV

Finance and budgeting for localization projects
Vendor Management

Internal stakeholder communication and education around translation topics

International experience dealing with teams in US, APAC and EMEA

KPI and metric management – internal and from vendors
 Understanding of end to end content creation – translation – release across various content types (DITA XML, software, InDesign, websites etc.)

At least 5 to 7 years of experience managing complex localization/translation projects on client or vendor side.

At least 1 to 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.

Demonstrated in-depth experience in operational service/project management processes and methodologies.

You have good communication (verbal and written), problem solving, troubleshooting, multi-tasking as well as prioritization skills.

You have strong leadership and organizational skills, are able to manage teams effectively, and promote the mentorship and encouragement of skill development within team members.

You have the ability to work under pressure and manage heavy workloads.

You have strong technical abilities, especially in the areas of software localization, web publishing, DTP/pre-press

Knowledge of at least one CAT tool (MemoQ, Trados, SDL, WordBee, WordFast XTM)
