What you will do
Defines, designs and implements process improvement as a part of the Johnson Controls Operating System (JCOS), supports integration and alignment vertically and horizontally, across organization. Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies and JCI priorities.  Owns and executes critical and important projects to deliver process improvement in key areas.  Facilitates and coaches improvement teams. Assists OpEx Leader in process excellence support for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards. Utilize Lean, Six Sigma and change management methodologies and have appropriate levels of certification for the role.

How you will do it

  • Directs teams in institutionalizing a lean, continuous improvement and Six Sigma (Process Certification) mindset while successfully leading major projects to ensure strategic planning and tactical execution, in accordance with JCOS/Process Excellence program directives.
  • Provide mentoring and direction to Greenbelt and Black Belts to demonstrate proper application and interpretation of Process Excellence criteria in order to gain certification.  
  • Assists with Process Excellence Training programs.
  • Assists with advanced strategic planning and highly complex tactical project execution in accordance with JCOS/Process Excellence program directives to ensure organization objectives are met. Contributes to the identification of projects that meet strategic objectives.
  • Assists with deployment of Process Excellence tools and methodologies in both business and manufacturing environments to work towards becoming a recognized Process Excellence practitioner/Process Excellence leader and drive best in class processes.
  • Supports monthly Process Excellence execution, performance and financial reporting to ensure that organization objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, and quality are met.
  • Displays continuously the characteristics of a change leader in the organization.
  • The ability to travel, up to 50% as required

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or relevant discipline from an accredited university. 
  • Black Belt accreditation is required.  Master Black Belt preferred.
  • 10 years of functional and 4 - 6 years of a Managerial/Leadership experience.
  • Technical Skills


  • Proficient with use of computer and software applications including Minitab, Microsoft Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Experience in process mapping.
  • Project management skills - Strong ability to lead projects within budget, and in a timely manner.
