What you will do:
Provides technical leadership and development coaching to Six Sigma Black Belts and projects and assures    that projects are executed following the Six Sigma methodology as defined by the Johnson Controls               Leadership Institute.  Levels of   functioning are distinguished by the degree of development of the individual          Master Black Belt and his/her resulting capacity to provide technical leadership, guidance and inspiration to    assigned Black Belts and the Six Sigma process in general.
Provides technical leadership and training to Black Belts within a specific functional or operational area of the company.    
How you will do it:
  • Provides technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to assigned Lean Six Sigma Black Belts as part of their project management and personal development.
  • Verifies that Lean Manufacturing and/or DMAIC methodology and tools are being properly applied.
  • Consults on projects with regard to project direction, financial, and quality improvement opportunities and suitability as a Lean Six Sigma project.
  • Conducts Lean Six Sigma training and education for Black Belts and Champions following the 
Johnson Controls Leadership Institute model.
  • In conjunction with the Leadership Institute and Project Champions, certifies Black Belts and Lean Manufacturing Implementers
  • Assists Champions in the identification of project opportunities and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt candidates.
  • Shares “best practices” throughout the Company and monitors Lean Six Sigma projects for cross-collaboration opportunities.
  • Reviews project status with assigned Black Belts and Champions and provides counsel and advice on the use of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology.
  • Assures assigned Black Belts are kept informed of new developments/approaches in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodology.
  • Models Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies in individual and group interactions and challenges current thinking and resistance.
  • Looks for opportunities to recognize and publicize the accomplishments of assigned Black Belts.
  • May lead projects independently or with the help of a Black Belt(s).  
  • Stays current with Company Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence initiatives as well as new process and quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Leads and/or supports the Johnson Controls Manufacturing System processes
  • Collaborates with Project Champions, Leadership Institute and other MBBs to develop and evolve    Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing training.
  • Supports Black Belts based at multiple Johnson Controls manufacturing facilities.
  • Travel Required up to 50%
What we look for:
  • Bachelor’s Degree;preferably in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics or the Sciences.  However acquired, strong math and statistical capability.  
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and /or Lean Manufacturing Implementer or on a track that will clearly lead to certification in the near future
  • An essential personal quality is the ability to coach others where they can influence the behavior   and skills of others while not taking the authority or confidence away from those whom they coach
  • Derives personal satisfaction from the success of others rather than or in healthy balance with their own individual accomplishments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.  
  • Previous success leading projects and teams.  
  • The capacity to teach (or to learn to teach) others and be seen as approachable, helpful and            supportive by Black Belts and Champions.  
  • A strong interest in process and quality improvement and an ability and willingness to provide       leadership
