What you will do
You will champion digital/modern workplace initiatives that support Johnson Controls’ digital workplace transformation, enabling its employees to remain connected, secure and productive.  You will work closely with the Director of Modern Workplace, End User Computing (EUC), voice and collaboration delivery leads, IT and business leaders to promote the Modern Workplace vision. A corollary of this work is winning buy-in for the vision from key stakeholders to employees who are individual contributors. You will also ensure the modern workplace’s ongoing visibility and awareness through a well-orchestrated communications plan.

You will lead the work of adjusting the vision and user experience, when warranted by changes in business conditions.  You will also drive digital experience monitoring and continual improvement and accuracy of user personas, with input from leaders and business partners creating a process so employees have a greater voice in technology directions and workplace interactions.

How you will do it

  • Develop processes for assessing emerging technologies in the end user technology space and working with other delivery leads to ensure optimal user experience for JCI employees.
  • Work closely with HR members to understand employees’ current challenges and experience, new roles and responsibilities, demographic changes in the workforce, globalization initiatives, changes in organizational structure, and hiring and skills requirements. Incorporates this knowledge into Modern Workplace planning.
  • Work closely with facilities management members to create an inclusive workspace design that complements its virtual design.
  • Involve business process management professionals to make existing work processes more effective by rethinking, simplifying, and redesigning them.
  • Explore and improve how employees engage with each other, as well as with customers and business partners.
  • Identify leading-edge thinking and work with the employees involved to bring these activities into the broader corporate technology portfolio, thereby establishing greater trust between employees and the IT organization.
  • Seek out new technology trends that should be brought into the workplace.
  • Work closely with colleagues in infrastructure and operations (I&O) and procurement. Establish a methodology for consistent implementation services such as procurement, provisioning, deployment, training and promotion.
  • Develop metrics that allow the organization to gauge the success of its modern workplace investments. Ensure this data is collected, analyzed, tracked, communicated using performance scorecards.

What we look for
Required:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in business and/or IT management
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Experience in designing strategic metrics and scorecards 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
  • Empathy for and identification with the leaders and employees in the organization affected by changes in the digital workplace
  • Strategic technology planning experience.
  • Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, as well as policy development and maintenance
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. These skills will be used to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists; and to sell ideas and processes internally at all levels and across all countries.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of employee-facing services such as personal and group productivity tools, data discovery, intranets, knowledge management, social networks and technology support
  • Digital dexterity with consumer gadgets, apps and other technology services, along with the vision to see how they can improve employee agility and engagement

Preferred:

  • Academic qualification or professional training in marketing, user experience, social or behavioral science
  • Championing innovation programs as a catalyst of organizational change
