What you will do

The Paralegal/Projects Manager for Johnson Controls’ Law Department is responsible for providing paralegal and administrative support in connection with ongoing and special projects within the Company’s Law & Policy Department, including our Organizational Health Initiative, Technology & Process Support, and Vendor Management. This role will report to the Director, Legal Operations, Strategy & Technology, and will have principal responsibility for generating and publishing reports in connection with matters and projects, updating members of the Law & Policy Leadership Team on the status of subpoena responses, managing settlement payments, discovery, and privileged internal investigations, and liaising and coordinating as necessary with outside law firms and vendors.

How you will do it

  • Coordinating third-party subpoenas and service of process, including government/regulatory subpoenas, and supporting attorneys to identify, review, and disclose responsive documents and materials in connection with subpoenas
  • Managing the settlement payment processes in connection with Labor and Employment (“L&E”) and Litigation matters
  • Support L&E and Litigation attorneys and/or paralegals with day to day management of litigation matters, including discovery and document management tasks, and special projects
  • Support Department team members to review invoices, communicate, and coordinate with preferred law firms as to billing matters
  • Support Legal Operations team in the preparation and review of various financial reports, metric tracking, dashboards, and scorecards for Department-wide use

What we look for

  • Two years or more of related experience with a minimum of five years administrative support of confidential legal matters
  • B.A. or equivalent degree required
  • Paralegal certification required
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing and coordinating high profile matters in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner
  • Advanced program and project management skills; analytical and
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple, cross-functional global projects; able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Stellar and unwaveringly sound judgment, and agility to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, often competing deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change.
