YORK® Chiller Solutions, from Johnson Controls, help customers respond to their building efficiency needs by providing the widest variety water and air-cooled industrial and commercial chillers on the market. From reducing a facility’s carbon footprint, to delivering a healthier indoor environment and cutting energy costs, we create smaller, more energy efficient chillers tailored to fit almost any comfort or process cooling applicationeven heating. 

We are hiring a Power Electronics Engineer to serve as technical expert within Power Electronics Department that is responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining high voltage power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls’ chiller applications. Specifically this position with focus on the development of variable speed/frequency drives.

This position is based out of our advanced development center in New Freedom, PA. We are offering relocation coverage for well-qualified professionals.

How you will do it 
  • Determines the best techniques, procedures and/or theories as they apply to the development of power electronics products and systems.
  • Creates compliance procedures for the development of electrical/electronic circuitry designs.
  • Defines and interprets design specifications; designs electrical/electronic circuitry to meet specified requirements; and analyzes product design requirements and recommends solutions.
  • Prepares and coordinates the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing.
  • Participates in all aspects of preliminary design and systems architecture, and conducts analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software.
  • Conducts feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems.
  • Works with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.
  • Forecasts and schedules work activities, and defines processes for repetitive tasks.
  • Acts as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls’ chillers.
  • Travels to visit customers, Johnson Controls’ factories, vendors, and/or professional conferences as business needs
  • Complies with Johnson Controls’ Code of Ethics and policies
  • Effectively utilizes your knowledge, skills, and Johnson Controls’ tools
  • Collaborates with global and cross-functional teams
  • Is open minded to receive and offer constructive feedback
  • Is flexible to support customers and business
What we look for

  • Bachelor degree on Electrical Engineering with specialization on Power Electronics
  • Minimum 5+ years’ of practical industry/industry experience in the field of Power Electronics.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Johnson Controls.
  • Ideally seeking an individual with 15+ years’ practical/industry experience.
  • Advanced degree with focus in Power Electronics
  • Strong experience on power electronics controls
  • Strong experience on FPGA and DSP
  • Strong experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber…
