For our European Engineering Center (EEC) in Milan, Italy we are currently looking for a:


Program Manager


In this role, you will work as an integral part of the BAS (Building Automation Systems) team, embedded in the new European Engineering Center (EEC). The EEC is an extension of the Global Controls product organization and is primarily focused on building and sustaining a market-winning portfolio of products for the European market. As Program Manager, you will interface with other engineering and cross-functional teams and leaders in US, China and India to define and lead product development projects, sourcing projects, sustaining engineering projects and/or continuous improvement projects. 

Key Accountabilities:


  • Coordinate monthly executive projects reviews and interface with all levels of Management on all aspects of Planning, Scheduling, Organizing, Directing and Controlling of their respective Program/Projects
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering and Supply Chain organizations to develop future product and commercial strategies
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the Program Management organization and with the other Program Stakeholder’s
  • Execute one or more projects/programs from design and development through deployment
  • Define system level requirements and plan project lifecycle deployment
  • Define resources and schedule for project/program implementation
  • Define, sponsor and deploy process improvements to improve program/project execution and overall quality/customer satisfaction
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, and milestones
  • Direct and oversees project-engineering team and manages conflicts within group
  • Perform team training, assessments and evaluations
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Apply, execute and maintain function related quality issues complying with Global Design Process

Position Requirements:

  • BS Engineering or other technical degree. MBA preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in the HVAC or related industry in a product development environment with a minimum of 3 years in project or program management
  • Strong business acumen and project/program management skills
  • Ability to manage programs with globally distributed teams
  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to apply a balanced understanding of all business elements
  • Outstanding communication skills as well as good negotiation and leadership skills
  • Efficient utilization of resources and skills through effective planning and leadership in the program matrix organization
  • Familiarity with business plans, strategies, and technology skills
  • Ability to think strategically and remain focused on the mission, ignoring non-value added distractions
  • General knowledge of BMS and BAS architecture and technologies
  • Analyze data related to complex business issues, finance and costs
  • Manage cross-functional teams, often managing both “up” and “across” the organization
  • Recognize and respond to expectations in a timely manner and with a sense of urgency required
  • Set goals consistent with Controls NBUs objectives
  • Motivate and influence cross-functional teams and peer groups to develop stretch goals and execute to the goals.
  • Good communicator and ability to pay attention to details
  • Team player, able to integrate his/her activities in complex, multinational and multicultural project teams
  • International outlook and willing to travel abroad occasionally on business (up to 30% of the time)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to manage stress
  • Methodical and structural approach to tasks
  • Flexible, resilient, able to adapt rapidly and successfully to changes
  • Fluent oral and written English is a must; Italian would be an advantage
