What you will do



This position is for a Program Manager of new product development in the Johnson Controls Building Technologies and Solutions Chiller Organization.

The role of the Program Manager is to manage a group of related projects in a coordinated way to obtain control and benefits for the business that are not usually achieved by managing projects independently.  A Program Manager may need to manage elements of related work outside of the scope of discrete projects. 



Direct and manage programs from beginning to end using the Johnson Controls Product Development Process (PDP).

Initiate, plan, execute, control and close programs to deliver project scope within budget and on-time. 

Plan for, and acquire, necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of core, extended and support team members, contractors or consultants in order to deliver programs according to plan.

Lead cross-functional, global and diverse project teams.

Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Deliver monthly progress reports, project proposals, PDP documentation and deliverables, periodic presentations and project status updates via project scoreboards, management Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

Manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and create contingency plans.

Communicate and work closely with other program managers, functional managers and executive leadership to achieve program goals.

Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and cultures.

Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, customers, and other departments.

Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.

Sitting for extended periods of time.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.

Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings



What we look for



Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 8 years of experience in project management or a related technical field.

Experience with managing global, multi-disciplined project teams.

Technically competent with project management software tools and concepts (such as Microsoft Project) and the Microsoft software suite.

Ability to travel internationally for the purpose of meeting with team members, stakeholders, or off-site personnel and management.


 Refrigeration industries experience
