What you will do


YORK® Chiller Solutions from Johnson Controls, help customers respond to their building efficiency needs by providing the widest variety water and air-cooled industrial and commercial chillers on the market. From reducing a facility’s carbon footprint, to delivering a healthier indoor environment and cutting energy costs, we create smaller, more energy efficient chillers tailored to fit almost any comfort or process cooling application – even heating.

The Senior Staff Product Engineer is responsible for the conceptual development, mathematical analysis, detailed design, and overall performance of air cooled screw chiller components and systems, including providing support to the laboratory, production, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally.

This position will report to the Engineering Manager in the Air Cooled Screw Chiller Product Engineering Department.

How you will do it

  • Use standard and advanced technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and best practices to predict chiller systems, components, and fluid flow performance.
  • Initiate investigations on all chiller systems and components; conceptualize, develop, conduct global reviews, and implement solutions to resolve issues and improve chiller performance.
  • Establish chiller test criteria, direct laboratory testing, and analyze data to identify chiller issues or improvements.
  • Provide support to laboratory, production, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally.
  • Establish development schedules and ensure completion of projects to schedule.
  • Apply ASHRAE, AHRI, and UL codes to existing and developing products.
  • Closely collaborate with the ProE design team to create chiller layout concepts and improve final designs.
  • Continuously increase expertise on all aspects of chiller theory, design, testing, operation, and applications.
  • Continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.

What we look for
Required

  1. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited).
  2. Minimum 14 years of applicable experience required, preferably in product development of chiller systems, industrial refrigeration systems, compressor packages, or other rotating machinery.
  3. Advanced degrees may be applied in lieu of experience.
  4. Advanced expertise developing mathematical formulas to predict chiller systems, components, and fluid flow performance.
  5. Advanced expertise developing equipment with highly integrated mechanical, electrical, fluid flow, and controls elements.
  6. Expertise on heat transfer and thermodynamics.
  7. Expertise on industrial equipment manufacturing processes.
  8. Strong time management and product development initiative skills.
  9. Must be able to travel up to 15% including internationally.
