What you will do

Purchases standard direct materials for a specific commodity following established quality standards, availability requirements, and commodity strategy with emphasis on identification of cost reduction opportunities, spend management, supply continuity. 

 
How you will do it
  • Participate in the development and implementation of commodity strategies
  • Obtains quotations from suppliers on price, quality and service for assigned purchased materials
  • Implements negotiation strategies
  • Purchases assigned items at the best price from reliable sources, following established standards for quality, quantity, and other factory requirements of the business
  • Assists in assessing their key markets, performance of suppliers in those markets, explore new entrants and new technology
  • Interact with cross functional and cross regional colleagues
  • Establishes and maintains a harmonious relationship with vendors or prospective vendors in order to enhance the performance and reputation of the company
  • Follows-up and expedites orders to obtain proper, on—time delivery.
  • Assists with back orders and resolution of match and hold reports to resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies
  • Advises management of improvements on standard materials and equipment, price changes, marketing changes and source changes
  • Manages interpersonal relationships with supplier
  • Investigates new sources of supply for assigned purchased materials
  • Provides input and assistance in managing vendor relationships
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
 
 

What we look for
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent required,  advanced degree is a plus
  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, engineering or finance
  • Strong skills in basic computer applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • A quick study, ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and engage in activities that lead to improvements
  • Understanding of MRP and ERP systems and multi-plant relationships
  • Able to communicate clearly and promptly to avoid confusion and misunderstanding
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross functional team and hold others accountable
  • Can monitor and analyze progress to make and/or recommend changes as required
  • Ability to utilize reasoning and planning to understand a problem situation and implement corrective actions
  • Flexibility to travel 20%
