Primary Purpose:


The Regional CRE (Corp Real Estate) will lead best-of class corporate real estate portfolio management for Johnson Controls fostering strategic relationships at the regional Business Unit executive level.  As an extension of and in collaboration with the business, this highly consultative individual will identify opportunities to support Johnson Controls Corporate and BU objectives and initiatives through a focus on portfolio performance, protection of real property asset value and the general alignment of CRE with JCI and BU strategies and strategic suppliers. 


This executive will additionally manage the execution of service delivery for an integrated real estate, facilities management and project management offering.  The portfolio is 300-400 locations and 20,000,000 square feet regionally with and annual spend of $70 Million in occupancy costs and $100 Million in Capital Projects. This highly organized business partner will foster value-added communication with executive leadership in order to successfully achieve mutual goals, executive customer satisfaction, and delivery of key performance indicators.


Critical will be this person's ability to exceed business partner expectations and establish the credibility necessary to facilitate consultative, strategic discussions with the management team.  Leveraging and integrating resources within the JCI Corporate Real Estate team of technical expertise, the Regional Leader will deliver best-of-class, quality corporate real estate and workplace solutions to the business.



Primary Duties:


  1. Strategic Asset Management:  This person will manage a global real estate portfolio whereby the business is able to meet strategic objectives through flawless execution and through leadership.
  2. Needs Assessment and Portfolio Advisory:  Will partner with the regionally based senior executive leadership of the businesses to conduct thorough needs assessments on a proactive basis to leverage opportunities within their regional real estate portfolio.  This person will identify avenues for profitability by composing thoughtful, strategic corporate real estate, facility management and project alternatives. In addition, provides oversight and management for real estate, facilities management and projects to optimize cost, standardize best practices and world class processes; and ultimately increase the value we create for our shareholder, BU’s and customers.  Manage the global relationship, governance and strategic development with service providers to implement customer business requirements and oversee the performance of these services.
  3. Leadership and Coaching:  Essential to the position will be this person's ability to lead and inspire a multi-national team of experts, integrating subject matter expertise from a number of different resources to drive performance and achieve results. This person will supervise and manage at team of Regional Leadership and Global Program to support the BU initiatives and strategies.
  4. Operational Execution:  This leader will synthesize and distill data from a number of disparate sources into a clear, executable action plans to be carried out by the account team.  This includes identification and development of key performance objectives and metrics to benchmark Johnson Controls success. Along with coordinate and conduct quarterly business reviews with senior BU Leadership. Leverage BE and GWS Offerings to optimize cost and standards. Manage and track savings from Corporate and GMOC initiatives as it relates to the facilities management services, projects and real estate services.



Required Experience and Knowledge:

  1. Minimum Experience 10+ years’ experience in real estate, facility management and projects. Including commercial site selection, leasing, capital projects, financial management and management of day to day facility operational experience
  2. Bachelor’s degree required in Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field. Professional License required.
  3. Strong planning, management organizational experience.
  4. Experience in overseeing planning, design and construction projects, and advanced knowledge of design technologies and practices.
