What you will do

The Vice President of Strategic Development position resides in the Strategy & Acquisition Office and works closely with business unit presidents to define and implement Johnson Controls long term vision.

The VP of Strategic Development’s primary role is to develop & evolve proprietary company strategies to ensure the sustainable/profitable organic & inorganic growth for the company that will ensure the sustainable profitable growth of the company resulting in a higher valuation.

This role, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, will develop executive relationships, foster new business development and lead the execution of all elements of strategic and market assessment plans. The VP, Strategic Development, together with Business Unit and Corporate leadership, will drive portfolio strategy, investments and actions that will drive incremental revenue growth and value for Johnson Controls. The successful candidate will bring energy, act as a self-starter, and be steadfast in their pursuit of creating new value for Johnson Controls!

How you will do it

  • Partners with business unit president to develop and implement corporate strategy, and serves as a key leader to ensure long term business success.
  • Supports definition of new lines of business for business expansion and contract growth strategies to ensure healthy growth of new and existing customers.
  • Lead all aspects of market assessment in support of M&A transactions including primary market research.

  • Extensive experience is market assessment including segmentation and growth assessment
  • Bachelors in Science plus Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited college in a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of strategic development experience, including international business development
  • 5 Years in management consulting
  • 5 Years in functional role (P&L leadership, sales, engineering or manufacturing)
  • 5 Years of strategy in support of M&A transactions
